
John DeFerrari was born and raised in Washington, DC. He has had a lifelong interest in the history of his native town and served for a number of years as a docent at a local house museum, Dumbarton House. John earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the Catholic University of America and has a Master’s Degree in English Literature from Harvard University. He is a career civil servant who directs reviews of the efficiency and effectiveness of federal government programs. He is also the author of a popular blog called Streets Of Washington as well as two books about about DC history, Lost Washington, D.C.(2011) and Historic Restaurants of Washington, D.C.: Capital Eats(2013). John is actively involved in DCPL’s Landmarks Committee and takes a special interest in developing historic landmark nominations.
