Katie Irwin

Katie Irwin, AIA, IIDA, LEED AP, is a Principal at Quinn Evans in Washington, DC where she specializes in designing within and preserving historic interiors. Katie plays a pivotal role at Quinn Evans, serving as the External Leader for the Heritage Practice Area. In this capacity, she is responsible for positioning the practice for success, driving business development efforts, nurturing emerging leaders, and fostering collaboration across various practice areas and regions. She brings a holistic approach to projects with her dual licensure as an architect and interior designer. Katie’s body of work in the Washington, DC region includes the projects at multiple embassies (chanceries and ambassador’s residences), and projects for the Daughters of the American Revolution, the National Academy of Sciences, the Architect of the Capitol, and the General Services Administration.

Her dedication to the field extends beyond her professional role, demonstrated by her involvement in various professional organizations. She has held positions such as president of the APT Washington, DC chapter and board member of the APT International serving as the co-chair of the Chapters Committee for several years. Currently, she is Chair of the AIA Virginia Historic Resources Committee and a member of the leadership group for the AIA Interior Architecture Knowledge Committee.

She earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture, a Bachelor of Arts in Art History, a Master of Architecture, and a Certificate in Historic Preservation, all from the University of Maryland, College Park.
