This January, join DCPL’s Zachary Burt to explore the process of historic designation. Designating a historic site can be complex and overwhelming, as there are many aspects to consider when evaluating a site for historic designation. Luckily, there are many useful resources that can help homeowners and other individuals interested in preservation. This presentation will provide the public with an overview of Washington, DC’s historic landmark designation process, the DC Inventory of Historic Sites, and the National Register of Historic Places. This session will also present some helpful tips related to researching and writing a historic landmark nomination, including an introduction to the DC History Center’s myriad of publicly available resources.

This program is free and open to the public.
